| Help NEEDED with LAb PUP? Hello, My name is Ana, and 3 Days ago my father in law gave my almost 2 year old son a Baby Labrador who we named Masha (russian name of Maria). She is adorable 2 months old puppy who we felt in love with at a first sight. I'm writhing to ask you couple of questions because i haven't find any answers to them. Here they are if you can please help me: 1) We decided not to crate train Masha because we always have ppl at the house so she is never left alone. If I and my husband are working 8 hours a day and the dog stays with my son's nanny and my son, do you think it is ok? or she might have trouble to determine who is her master and to who she has to respond? I'm the one who gives her food, as well I'll be the one who will take her out on late afternoons and weekends, there is a persona who will take her out on the middle of the day and mornings during the week. I'm just thinking that she might be confused bc of so many different ppl taking care of her? 2) My vet. does not allow me to take the dog outside until all the 3rd reinforcement of the vaccine. So now Masha is doing pee on the newspaper. She is doing pretty good job bc she has only been in my house for 3 days and she is able to find her way to the paper although sometimes she has lil accidents. What I was wondering about is that I think that she will get used to do it on the paper and then won't do it outside? what can i do about it? as well she goes pee on the paper but does not go poo, she goes poo anywhere. 3) She sleeps on top of my cloth. We have determined her space and put her bed there and her toys. She cried first night so I came out and sat with her for couple of min. so she doesn't feel abandoned. I didn't play with her, or cuddle her, I just sat on her bed for couple of min. and then left. If she would start crying again I just let her cry for lil and then she would go sleep but before that she would pull any peace of my clothing from hamper and fall a sleep on top of it. When i realized that I got her my old Tshirt, wore it for a day and gave her to sleep with. Now she doesn't want a Tshirt she cries for me to come out. I don't know what to do bc she cries really badly and she doesn't stop. When i come out she climbs on top of me and then she falls a sleep for couple of hours and then she starts all over. Tonight she was really really upset, I don't come out bc first i wait for a couple of mins. to see if she stops, but tonight she cried non stop for about 30 min so i had to get up bc no one could sleep. i notices as well that she jumps on top of me in attempt to suck on my ear as if it was her moms tit, sometimes she seems to be looking for it when she feels my bare skin. | 1) It is still useful to crate train. You never know when you might need a safe, secure place for the dog, or if she might have to stay at the vet, or if you are travelling with her. All of these will be easier if she is accustomed to spending time quietly alone in her crate. 2) It's easier to simply train her to go outside. If you are worried about her catching something, find a place in your yard where other dogs do not go. |
