Bikini wax? I am planning to get a bikini wax (Brazillian, I suppose) prior to my wedding. I know that after the first time, some people experience tenderness (probably an understatement) and some redness. Naturally, I don't need either of these on my honeymoon, but I still want it to look and feel great. So my question is how long before the wedding should I make the waxing appointment to be sure that I look and feel my very best???? Thanks for your input! | First of all best wishes for your wedding!!
First, you must be sure that you want to get a brazilian bikini wax. Consider trying first the standard bikini wax which will remove the hair from your bikini line or the full bikini which will remove most of your pubic hair apart from the most sensitive areas. A brazilian bikini wax removes ALL your pubic hair.
We advice you to get your first brazilian bikini wax by a professional. Many women who try to give themselves a brazilian bikini wax, cause damage and their bikini area looks worse after the brazilian wax.
You could find a salon that offers a brazilian bikini wax in any big US city. Just look in the “Yellow pages” or in any search engine for “brazilian wax” + “name of your city”.
After locating a salon, find out how many brazilian waxes they do a week? Make sure that the persons who are responsible for the brazilian bikini wax are experienced. Ask to talk to customers that got a brazilian bikini wax from the same salon.
Open your purse. A brazilian bikini wax may cost up to 100 US dollars. However, the average cost is about 50 bucks. We advice you pay not less than the average price to get a professional treatment.
Come to your scheduled treatment with a good mood after taking a warm shower cleaning your pubic area. You will get into a separate room or a hole with a curtain. Then you will lie on a bed with your knees up or legs down. Then, the therapist will trim down your pubic hair with scissors to a length of about a quarter inch.
Afterwards, the real thing will start. The waxer will start the waxing process. He will use a low temperature wax to cause less pain. When the wax cools he will pull it out with your pubic hair. This part is the most painful one. However, the first time is the most painful one. The hair can be pulled out easier in the following times. The waxer will ask you to get into some weird uncomfortable positions – holding your legs up, to the side and even over your head.
If the waxer is a good one the painful part will end quickly. If you feel it takes too long or that the pain is unbearable, just tell the therapist that you need a little rest. When the waxing is done a soothing lotion should be applied to the pubic area. Your bikini area will stay smooth for at least 3 weeks with no maintenance at all. Make the most out of it.
It is important to follow a few basic steps when you prepare for a bikini wax. First, of course, you should not get a bikini wax if you are diabetic, suffer from psoriasis or other skin conditions, or if you take Retinol or Accutane. If you are unsure, ask you physician whether you can go ahead with a wax.
When people prepare for a bikini wax, particularly if it is their first time, one big consideration is pain. Aestheticians usually recommend that you not get a wax when you are menstruating or pregnant, as sensitivity to the pubic area is usually increased at this time. Additionally, you may want to take ibuprofen or aspirin an hour before the wax to cut down on pain. Waxing does hurt, but how the wax is performed can make it hurt less. Choose a person with a lot of experience, and if possible get recommendations from friends. Someone new to waxing will probably not be as efficient; so don’t have your waxing done at a beauty college.
To prepare for a bikini wax, you also need to be sure your pubic hair is of the right length. If it is too long, the aesthetician will probably have you trim it, or if it is too short, it may be hard or impossible to remove. Aestheticians recommend shaving the bikini area about three weeks prior to getting the wax, and if you plan a Brazilian wax, you will need to trim the hair to about ¼ to ½ inch (.63-1.52cm) if you haven’t shaved it three weeks before the wax.
Another important step to prepare for a bikini wax is to avoid swimming or sunning oneself for a full 24 hours prior to the wax. After the waxing, you will want to consider the same for a couple of days. The skin can have some redness or bumping, which can be helped by ice. There is also the occasional ingrown hair, which can be iced, and then have anti-bacterial cream applied to ward off infection. Aestheticians recommend gently exfoliating the pubic area before the wax, and then doing so regularly after the wax to cut down on ingrown hairs.
Another consideration when one wants to prepare for a bikini wax is what type of underwear, if any, should be worn. Usually wearing underwear is up to the person getting the wax. If you feel uncomfortable removing your underwear, choose a skimpy pair, preferably a thong, and the aesthetician will work around the undies, and ask you to hold them when he or she needs to wax a covered area.
Many recommend wearing old underwear, to prepare for a bikini wax, or those that can be easily washed, as occasionally residue wax will get on the underwear. Also an important tip is wearing pants or a skirt that can easily be washed, instead of dry-cleaned, so that if any wax gets on your outer clothes, you are not out the cost of dry-cleaning them.
Lastly, to prepare for a bikini wax, if you are planning a Brazilian, you may want to schedule at least 30 minutes, and occasionally more. The salon will usually tell you how long the waxing process takes, and the lesser the time, the better. However, some women feel that when the waxing is done in small patches, though the process takes longer, it is usually more effective and less painful. So this is an individual decision, and can be based on your level of comfort with the process.
My personal experience:
It doesn't hurt as much as people say and you should notice that the people who overreact the most are people that have never ever had a bikini wax! Now:
Stay out of the sun and the sea 24 hours before and after the bikini wax.
Wear comfortable underwear and don't apply lotion on the bikini area for at least 12 hours after the waxing.I use this one:
www.auravita.com/products/AURA/JO…
It makes the skin very soft and it also helps with the irritation(if there is any)
If you want to feel comfortable at your honeymoon I suggest to have your bikini waxed at least 3 days before.
Hope I helped!!Have a great honeymoon!! | Bikini wax? I am thinking about getting a bikini wax, but iam afraid=(.. I heard it hurtss badly!! or can go to a regular doctor for it lol. should i do it myself ? Do you need to take off your pants to get a bikini wax at a nail salon?
any advice or anything willl be great Thanks! | | If you go to a salon where professionals do it, It wont be as painful if you were to do it yourself. You need to take off you pants because otherwise how are they going to get to that area. You will not be naked though, most places offer mesh underware or allow you to wear your own. | Bikini Wax? I'm leaving for my honeymoon to Hawaii tomorrow. I have an appointment to get a bikini wax today - by the time I leave and get to Hawaii - it will be about 48 hours...is that enough time for the sting and the redness to go away? Or should I just skip it and use the razor? | Plenty of time.
Coach | BIKINI WAx? DOES A BIKINI WAX CAUSE BUMPS?-Bumps like a razor would cause? | | sometimes it will happen just have a really warm bath before you get waxed that will helppull out the hair easier which will reduce the bumps... | What is a good bikini wax kit or just wax that works good and gets all the hair? I am interest getting a bikini wax because I am tired of shaving. I have tried Nair roll on wax and it did not work at all. Im afraid going to get a wax professionally is gonna be too costly.
Can some recommend to me brands of bikini waxes you have tired and how you liked it? | | I like Gigi all purpose honee wax, but you also need the wax warmer, strips, applicators, and creams, and it is a little difficult to do because it is a little hard to see, and sometimes i have to talk myself into pulling, depending on how often you do it, I would really recommend going to get it done, also prices vary depending on where you live, if you look around you could find places that do it for as little as $50, or as much as $100. Good luck | What should i use to wax my bikini area? I shaved my bikini area about two days, and have the itchy stubble. I would like a more longer lasting solution, but products i have tried recenetly dont seem to want to grub the stuble, though there is some hair growth above the skin. Does anyone have any suggestions or do you should it can be taken care of professionally? Do i have to let the hair grow out or what? I have used Surgi Wax Honey wax strips and Surgi Wax No Strip bikini wax. | | Seek a qualified aesthetician!! Don't settle for the hair shop lady doing it. Make sure the aesthetician has had experience since school waxing the bikini...especially if it turns into a Brazilian or Sphinx waxing. The bikini area hair is coarser and more deeply rooted than other body hair. Also the skin in the area is more pliable so usually assisting the aesthetician in holding back skin and/or a body part is not unusual in a typical bikini wax. Make sure you eat well, drink plenty of water and get good sleep the day before the procedure. Oh yeah, hair should be at least 1 1/4" long before going in for the waxing. If it is longer, trimming is necessary. Get off the bed if she doesn't break out the trimmers! Good luck, take a squeezy ball and breathe! | What areas does a basic bikini wax cover? I've never gotten one and don't think I want to dive head first into a Brazilian for my first time, but I do want more than just the bikini line waxed. Does a basic bikini wax get just along your bikini line, or does it also include that whole front area? | | unless you have a really cool waxer lady they normally just stick to the sides about an inch or two in from btwn the side and your leg and then about an inch or two off the top. that's it. when you go for the brazilian they will take the whole front even the little bit that's just inside which is very fine hair and then all the way over to like your butt. you bare all with the Brazilian. get a waxer that, at the moment i forget but it's the wax that they put on you then use an ice cube to harden which feels good bc it's really hot (when they put the wax on) the ice cube rolls over it (cooling the area and sorta soothing it) and then they pull. | How painful is a bikini wax compared to a leg wax? I have had my legs waxed before and that's fine, but was wondering if a bikini wax is more painful
On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the most painful, I would say leg wax was around 2
What number would you give a bikini wax? | | a 6 for mee.(: | How bad does a bikini wax hurt? I'm 14 and interested in getting a bikini wax for the areas surrounding the outside of a bikini (inner thigh). I regularly get eye brow waxes and i was wondering how badly a bikini wax hurts in the areas around a bathing suit bottom compared to waxing eyebrows. On a pain scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the greatest, how bad does the bikini wax hurt? To me, an eyebrow wax is a 3. Also, since its my first time, how long will it last and will i get any ingrown hairs? | There is no real way to tell how badly it will hurt YOU. My pain scale and your pain scale are totally different. I would say that it hurts about a 5, but I have a different tolerance than you. Here are some tips to help with the pain.
1.Plan to wax after your period. Your pain threshold is higher in the week after your period than beforehand. Think of it like this: If sappy commercials make you cry when you're premenstrual, having wax applied to your dainty bits certainly will.
2.Lose your self-consciousness. Yes, a stranger is going to see you wearing, at most, a paper thong. Don't worry about offending her or feeling embarrassed. It's nothing she hasn't seen before. The less anxious you are, the less you'll worry about pain.
3.Start off slowly. Your first bikini wax is not the time to try a Brazilian. If you're new to waxing, go with a basic bikini wax. You can always decide to remove more the next time around.
4.Exfoliate. The day before you decide to wax, exfoliate in the shower. This will remove dead skin, allowing the wax to grip shorter hairs.
5.Speak up. A good esthetician will work with you to make sure you're as comfortable as you can be. I always ask my esthetician to tell me when she's about to pull the wax off. So don't be shy to say something if you have a low pain tolerance—it's better to speak up than to suffer in silence.
6.Use hard wax. Hard wax is more gentle than soft wax, so I recommend going to a spa that uses it.
7.Take an over-the-counter pain reliever. About an hour before your appointment, take an Advil, Tylenol or other pain reliever.
8.Breathe. It can be tempting to hold your breath, but breathing in and out helps reduce the pain. Take a deep breath in when the wax goes on, then breathe out when your esthetician gives it a yank.
9.Know which parts are most sensitive. You wouldn't expect it, but having hair pulled from the lower abdomen area is more painful than it is around the vaginal opening.
10.Turn your head and cough. An esthetician at Bliss taught me this trick: When the wax is about to be ripped off, cough. It distracts from the pain, and trust me, it works!
I'm going to post a website with some FAQs, I hope you find it usefull. Good Luck! | What's the difference between a brazillian wax and a bikini wax and how bad do they hurt? What's the difference between a brazillian wax and a bikini wax and how bad do they hurt? I really want all of the hair down "there" to be waxed but which is which? | A Brazilian wax is wax off any hair down there. I mean seriously every single hair! While a bikini wax is removing any hairs that would be seen sticking out of your bikini bottom/undies/whatever you wear.
A Brazilian wax is much more painful than a bikini wax.
I hope I helped, God Bless! |
