Gay Rights? Why does everyone say that gays don't have the right to marry they have just as many rights as I do ( I am not gay ). I can't just go out and marry some guy I am restricted to women ( I am a guy ). So why does everyone say that they don't have the right to marry. |
Live and let live people...
Any straight couple can get married at any moment, whether they love each other or not. Two complete strangers can get married on a whim. People get married for the wrong reasons all the time. Because of an "unexpected" pregnancy, for legal status or for financial security, because of loneliness and desperation, to be "happy", to be an "adult", family pressure, he or she loves you, for immigration purposes, because they don't want to grow up (they want to be taken care of) etc.... Yet a gay couple that has been together for 25 years can not marry because it's "wrong". People are such hypocrites.
Here is a little food for thought:
Homosexuality is not natural, much like eyeglasses, polyester, and birth control are not natural.
Heterosexual marriages are valid because they produce guyren. Infertile couples and old people cannot get legally married because the world needs more guyren.
Obviously gay parents will raise gay guyren because straight parents only raise straight guyren.
Straight marriage will be less meaningful, since Britney Spears's 55-hour just-for-fun marriage was meaningful.
Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and it hasn't changed at all: women are property, Blacks can't marry Whites, and divorce is illegal.
Gay marriage should be decided by the people, not the courts, because the majority-elected legislatures, not courts, have historically protected the rights of minorities.
Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are always imposed on the entire country.
That's why we only have one religion in America.
Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people makes you tall.
Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage license.
Guyren can never succeed without both male and female role models at home. That's why single parents are forbidden to raise guyren.
Gay marriage will change the foundation of society. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and we could never adapt to new social norms because we haven't adapted to cars or longer lifespans.
Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because a "separate but equal" institution is always constitutional. Separate schools for African-Americans worked just as well as separate marriages will for gays & lesbians.
PS: If it's not clear yet here it is:
♥ I'm straight and support gay marriages 100% ♥ |
Gay rights? Can anyone tell me rights that straight people have that gay people do not? I am looking for anything; even the smallest things will help. Everywhere I look on the Internet it either says the stupidest hateful garbage or talks about marriage and the military. |
GLBT persons do not have the same rights as straight people in many ways...
first of all GLBT's{GAYS,LESBIANS,BISEXUALS,TRANSGEND… who do not wish to live an out life style must fear for their JOB safety, AS do pGLBT's who do live an out life many times when people are outed or come out they fear for their job safety as well as personal safety due to HATE CRIMES.
it is difficult to secure/optain and apartment often because of predujices...
there are 1000's of benifits that straights have when they marry so you have seen those answers on line because it is actually life threatening to those who are gay or have gay family memebers...example
how would you feel if your spouse of 12 years was perparing for surgury, and you were not allowed to see them ? becasue their father of mother sister or brother had you barred from seeing your spose just cause they could say you're not a blood/legal spouse?
what would you do if your spouse had been in an accident and you arrived at the hospital just to be told that you were not able to get any information about your spouse becasue YOU WERE NOT A RELATIVE....{BECASUE YOU CAN'T GET MARRIED} now what would you do or how would you feel if your spouse died {and you had guyren together} and because you can't be counted as a legal spouse you lose your guyren???
this can and DOES HAPPEN EVERYDAY ALL OVER THE UNITED STATES...
as far as the military examples HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF YOU SERVED YOUR COUNTRY LOYALLY AND BRAVELY
only to be threatened with death, rape, extorsion and the like all because you HAVE THE ABLITY TO TRUELY LOVE WHO YOU WERE INTENDED TO LOVE..!
OR IF YOU WERE RAPED BY A FELLOW SERVICE PERSON BECASUE YOU BELIEVED IN MONOGAMY WITH YOU LESBIAN/GAY LOVER...ONLY TO BE FORCED TO HAVE SEX WITH A STRAIGHT SERVICE PERSON...BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT YOU WOULD NEVER TELL BECAUSE THEY WOULD "OUT" YOU...AND THEN YOU WOULD BE DISHONORABLY DISCHARED... |
Gay rights? i am writing an argumentative paper on gay rights, i already have the basics for this paper. i believe everyone should be treated equal and have the same rights , i just am stuck on other things to elaborate about such as gays in the military, adoption etc...thanks |
Gays in the Military: If someone is willing to die for their country, what difference does it make WHO they have sex with?
Gay Adoption: Is it better to have guys bounced around the foster care system or placed in homes with people willing and able to love and care for them?
Gay Marriage: Marriage should NOT be defined by the BIBLE!! This is AMERICA. We have A SEPERATION OF CHURCH & STATE!!! :@) |
What are good arguments against gay rights? I have a class project where I am debating against gay rights (we didn't get to choose, personally I am more for gay rights). Even if it is not what you believe, you have to come up with an argument and be able to defend it. What are some good, valid reasons to be against gay rights? (Try to be open-minded) |
| Congratulations on being open-minded, but I doubt whether you will get many strong arguments against gay rights on this forum. |
How is the gay rights movement linked to the constitution? Gay rights is an important debated issue in american policy, describe how it is linked to the constitution in some way. |
Dear Ro:
Excellent question, do you think the original framers of the Constitution ever imagined that a bunch of gays would try and use it to marry each other???? Now that is funny, just thinking about Franklin, Jefferson, and Washington considering that. Other than that you can find a pond scum attorney that will find a connection, or the constant whining of the gay community to point it out. They still can not accept the will of the people in the state of California, and want to rewrite the religious books that go back thousands of years. Their premise being they want equal protection under the law and marriage affords them that, but that is all horseshit, and they could have had the laws changed under a civil union that would have guaranteed them all that and that would have passed hands down, but that is not good enough for them. |
Will gay rights advocates try to use the courts to force gay marriage on the Catholic Church? This is my big fear. With gay marriage now being legal, what's to stop them from hiring lawyers and charge the Church with discrimination or human rights abuses for refusing to marry homosexuals? |
There aren't just trying to force in on the Catholic church, the are trying to force in on the rest of society.
The are using the courts because they can get the votes they need to amend 50 different state constitutions and/or changes the laws in all 50 states. If you can get the majority to vote with you, they you sue and claim discrimination. |
How do I start a gay rights campaign? I really believe that they are about to ban gay marriage in DC. I don't think it's fair that gays can't marry but us straight people can. What about human rights? |
| Wow-I can't believe the hateful answers you received. I checked your profile and noted your age. Go on-line and google "Gay-straight alliance." I agree you should promote an already established organization and there is a strong support group for promoting this issue at the high school level and then, as a group, moving it into your city. Your group should organize and then start approaching your local government and community groups. You age group is the future of the world. You can influence older Americans, but you need an organization and a systematic approach. I'd use the Gay-Straight Alliance model. I admire you for doing this and I'm ready for the thumbs-down to start pouring in. By the way, I'm 61 years old and have been married 32 years. So-there are a lot of straight people who agree with you. Yahoo seems filled with some hateful people. I cannot figure out how a gay marriage effects me in any way. |
What are some good gay rights charities? I want to donate in the name of the Westboro Baptist church.? I am so tired of hearing how they protest military funerals and now they are planning to protest at the funerals in Arizona. I'd like them to know that I am supporting gay rights because of their incomprehensibly asinine and offensive protests. |
As funny as that would be, I don't think it's a good idea. WBC is well-known for suing people and making big bucks off of the lawsuits. I can bet my life that they wouldn't hesitate a second to sue you for using their name without their permission.
But you should still donate to organizations like the Foundation for AIDS Research, GLAAD, GetEqual, the Human Rights Campaign, and things like that.
A great thing to do is set up donation tables for these organizations at one of WBC's actual pickets. Because then they will get to see people donating money towards the things they hate most! :D And it would actually be their very presence that makes people want to donate!! |
What is going to happen to gay rights in Canada now that we have a conservative majority? We're known for being a tolerating country with gay rights being protected very diligently, but now that there is a conservative majority government I'm worried about what's going to happen here..as a gay rights activist and a (closeted) gay woman myself.
Are any of you guys in the know of what the conservative party of Canada has in mind for gays in Canada? (no ignorant or homophobic responses, please) |
| Nothing will change. The Conservative party has decided to leave both gay rights and abortion alone. Most change will be small and fiscal with the new government. Good luck, NDP next time. =] |
How is supporting gay rights a conservative value? Here's what the core principles of conservatism are:
"The promotion of small, limited government, the protection of the free market from socialization, and protection of individual rights and liberties."
Based on that does that mean conservatives should support gay rights? |
You are correct- The political party which promotes true conservative values is the Libertarian Party, which has no problem with gay rights.
The Republican Party abandoned conservative values a long time ago. They still like to claim they are conservative to get votes from gullible voters, but their true actions go against the core values you quoted above. |
